Check In and Check Out Policies

  • In effect starting 4/30/2020 Check in will be 6p to 7p and by appointment. Normal check in will resume after May 2020.  At this time we are only accepting long term stays of 7,14 and 30 days stays.
  • If you have not checked-in by 10 PM and we have not heard from you, you will be considered a no-show.  Late check-in can be accommodated with advanced notice.
  • There is a $10 check-in fee after 10p
  • Check out is 11a. We offer free luggage storage for our guests up to 24 hours.
  • Late checkout fee is $25
  • Please be sure to check your email 24 hours prior to your arrival for helpful information.

Property and cancellation policies

A deposit equal to the total of the first night’s stay will be taken upon reservation. 50% is non-refundable.

No-shows/cancellations within 24 hours of scheduled check in will forfeit their deposit
No shows with multiple-night bookings will forfeit the entirety of the reservation if we have not heard from them by 11 am on the day following their scheduled arrival. In addition, per our 24-hour cancellation policy, they will be charged for the second night
For all reservations over $1,000, cancellations must be given 72 hours notice or we will charge you the remainder of each night within that 72-hour cancellation window
Cancellations due to cancelled flights, changed travel plans or weather delays cannot be honored after May 2020.

For the DNC August 16 to 22, 2020;  full amount is due at time of reservation 50% of the deposit is non-refundable at the time of the booking. The full amount is non-refundable on July 16,2020 11:59p.

Please read our policies in their entirety. By proceeding with this reservation, you accept and agree that the reservation (details above), if accepted by us, Cream City Hostel (CCH), shall follow and be held to the terms and conditions as follows:

Prices and Taxes

Rates quoted are based on your chosen length of stay. Rates are subject to change without notice as a result of supply and demand. Guests agree to pay all taxes and fees associated with their accommodation. Rates are quoted in U.S. dollars (USD).

Payment and Terms at Check-In and Check-Out

A valid passport, government-issued photo ID or driver's license, as well as a credit card (in the name of the reservation) is required for check-in. Copies of identification are not accepted. 

Proof of continued travel, including but not limited to a bus tickets, train tickets, plane ticket or future hostel/hotel reservation may be required upon arrival.

Payment will be charged in full upon check in. Split payments with other payments/cash will be permitted. Card in the name of the reservation will be kept on file until after check-out.

You must be 18 years of age or older to check in and register for a room.

Cream City Hostel is a travelers hostel. Milwaukee metro area residents must reserve a room 48 hours in advance and will be asked to show proof of activity including but not limited to concert tickets, sporting event tickets and other event tickets. Exceptations made for long term stays until June 2020.

Check Out: 11a. Late checkout fee is $25


All Reservations must be made by the person that will be staying at the hostel. All reservations need a credit card on file in the name of the guest staying and will be asked for a valid passport, government issued photo ID or driver's license at check-in.

Reservations can be made on our website, by phone or walk-in.

We accept same day reservations until 7am.

In order to meet our mission to be a destination for world-wide, adventure-oriented and budget oriented travelers coming to Milwaukee, All Milwaukee-metro area residents must make a reservation 48 hours in advance and will be asked for proof of activity including but not limited to concert tickets, sporting event tickets and other event tickets. Exceptations made for long term stays until June 2020.

Guests can stay a maximum stay of 14 days in any 60 day period. Expectations made for Long Term Stays until June 2020.

COVID-19 INFO: Guests must obey stay-at home orders until they are no longer in effort. Masks are encouraged in the building and when doing essential errands or work. Cleaning products are supplied for guests to clean areas used in the hostel. Bedrooms are thoroughly cleaned after each guest and all common areas throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to take their temperature everyday and if feeling unwell let management know to isolate them to a private room until they can seek medical attention.

Luggage and Lost & Found

The hostel will hold guests’ baggage for up to 24 hours. Only baggage recognized by major U.S. airlines will be accepted. Garbage bags or other forms of packaging not accepted by major U.S. airlines will not be accepted. In excess of 24 hours, baggage will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. 

Baggage left longer than 24 hours after checkout will be charged a storage fine of  $5 per day up to 30 days. After 30 days baggage will be considered abandoned and disposed. Fees must be paid before the luggage is claimed. 

Lost & Found

All lost & found items will be dated and kept up to 30 days. If not claimed- property will be considered abandoned and disposed. 

All shipping charges will be covered by guest.

Traveling with Minors

All guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Minors are only permitted to stay in a private room or with a group reservation of a full dorm.

Accessibility and Special Needs

We have ramp access in the rear of building and an elevator to all three floors. ADA-accessible bathrooms are available on both dorm floors and an ADA compliant kitchen in the basement.

Service Animals You must notify the hostel at the time of booking that you will be traveling with a service animal. The animal must be under your control and with you at all times.   


Free street parking is available through the City of Milwaukee for up to three nights with registering with the city at LINK.

$5 per night off street parking available to guests staying longer than three nights or with availability to other guests staying less than three nights. Discounts available if staying longer than seven days.

Guest Policies

NOTICE TO GUESTS: I understand that this property is privately owned and reserves the right to eject or refuse service to anyone, is not responsible for accidents or injury to guests due to guest conduct or for loss or theft of personal items. Failure to comply with these rules will result in a dismissal from Cream City Hostel without a refund. To borrow a slogan from the Riverwest24 (our favorite 24 hours of the year), “don’t be a jerk!”

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT: I understand that a late check-in fee of $10 after 10p. Check-out is by 11a. Late check-out fee is $25. 

BAGGAGE: The hostel can hold baggage upon request for up to 24 hours that is accepted by U.S. airlines. Baggage left longer than 24 hours after checkout will be charged a storage fine of  $5 per day up to 30 days. After 30 days baggage will be considered abandoned and disposed. Fees must be paid before the luggage is claimed. 

LINENS: We do not allow outside linens or sleeping bags. Extra linens and blankets are available free of charge upon request. When self checking out, bed sheets and pillowcases and blankets must be placed in the laundry baskets on each floor.

QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are 10 pm to 9 am on the first and second floor. Please, no extended socializing in dorm rooms.

ALCOHOL POLICY: Alcohol is allowed for guests 21 and over in the downstairs rec room or the outside yard. However, you are expected to act with integrity and respect (see the first bullet point above). The party must not go into the dorms as they are places for rest.

SMOKING & DRUG POLICY: I recognize that this facility is smoke free. No smoking is allowed within 15ft of exterior doors. A $250 cleaning fee will be assessed for any guests smoking cigarettes or vaping inside the building. Violators will be evicted for an infraction with a refund. I recognize the consumption of illegal drugs will not be permitted on the property, in or outside the building.

OUTSIDE GUESTS: No outside guests are allowed inside the building unless authorized by a staff member. Outside guests are allowed in the yard. Do not share your code with any other individuals. No outside or dorm doors shall be kept propped open and must be closed after entering and exiting.

DAMAGE & EXTRA CLEANING:  I recognize that any damages to the facilities at my hand, theft, or extra filth that leads to additional cleaning, replacement, repair or other costs for Cream City Hostel will incur additional fees.

I authorize the credit card on file to be charged for any items removed from the room or common areas, damage to the room including but not limited to atmospheric conception of cannabis or tobacco, physical damage, or other up to a $25,000 USD per incident. I also authorize the hostel to charge and  additional $2,500 USD to my card on file for any additional cleaning in excess of ordinary requirements.
I agree that the sole purpose of renting this room is for my own personal use

Dispute Resolution/Problems
In the unlikely event that guests are dissatisfied with their experience, they agree to contact hostel management to resolve any issues.
