Why did the chicken cross the road? Ehhh, maybe we'll leave the comedy to the professionals. Fortunately, there's a couple of brand new Milwaukee comedy venues where you can hear some good ones.
The Laughing Tap (706B S. 5th Street) is a great new addition to the Walker's Point neighborhood. It's near fun restaurants and bars like Fuel 5th Street, Hamburger Mary's, Botanas, and Urban Harvest Brewing Company are all close by on 5th Street and there are many more options a short walk away. This new club makes a fun night of local food, comedy, and drinks available all in one block. The Laughing Tap features a full bar (it's a space that was formerly home to Brenner Brewing Company and was briefly a Sprecher Tap Room).
The Laughing Tap focuses on stand-up with shows on Friday and Saturday nights and plans for open mic night and comedy showcases. Milwaukee Comedy is the show producing company behind the scenes. They have a lot of comedy biz experience and produce the annual Milwaukee Comedy Festival. Check out upcoming shows and get tickets here: www.laughingtap.com

Keep the laughs rolling with the Ampersand Theater Company (628 N. 10th St.) which focuses on improv. Part of their programming includes improv classes, including an introductory class so you can give your funnybone a workout and channel your inner comedian. The theater is located near the Marquette campus on the corner of 10th Street and Wisconsin Ave. They have a CANtina that serves cans of beer, wine, soda, and cocktails.
