Is there any more testimonial needed about cats than the fact that we devote hours watching their antics on YouTube, and that cat video fests have popped up all over the country? Cat lovers will have something to purr over Sunday, February 23, when the CatVideoFest screens at the Oriental Theatre. If you're making an evening of it, there are many places to get food and drink near the Oriental. But really, the most appropriate thing to do before the fest is to visit the nearby Sip & Purr Cat Cafe, "Milwaukee's Very First Cat Cafe," located at 2021 E. Ivanhoe Place. They even have "Yoga with Cats" Sundays at 10am...meee-oww! Check out their website for more info: www.sipandpurr.com
The Oriental Theatre is right around the corner from Sip & Purr. If you've never been, it's an absolutely beautiful place to see any other form of cinema. As for CatVideoFest, MKE Film's website says:
Each year, CatVideoFest curates a compilation reel of the latest, best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and, of course, classic internet powerhouses. Screening events take place all over the world in a host of venues and raise money for cats in need, often through partnerships with local cat charities, animal welfare organizations, and shelters to identify how best to serve cats in the area. The all-new edition will begin in February of 2020 and Oscilloscope plans to bring CatVideoFest to hundreds of theaters around the globe where patrons can enjoy the shared experience of communal joy that these videos bring out. What better way for us humans to come together than by watching cats?
CatVideoFest is Sunday, February 23, 4pm. Tickets are $9 and can be purchased here: mkefilm.org/oriental-theatre/events/catvideofest-2020
