At Cream City Hostel, we are a group of residents with a mission to welcome you to our home. Our staff works at the hostel because they love Milwaukee and are dedicated to creating an inclusive community for travelers from all over the world to stay comfortably and affordably.

Milwaukee is a diverse city with a sprinkle of small-town charm. Our friendly community impresses visitors quickly who say they are surprised by our offerings. We have a little bit of everything: A thriving live music scene, fun sporting events with as many chill fans as diehard ones, a gorgeous art museum, world-class dining options, beautiful parks, walking and biking trails along Lake Michigan and affordability for the budget traveler. Maybe you came to visit for our huge music festival Summerfest, but didn’t consider catching one of Milwaukee’s local bands at a venue down the street, or in the hostel’s own backyard!
Cream City Hostel sits on Holton Street, which is the dividing boundary between Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods. Our neighborhood is known for its quirky, artsy vibe and is one of the most walkable and bikeable neighborhoods in Milwaukee. As Milwaukeeans, an attribute we are least proud of is that we are the most racially segregated metropolitan area in America. Dividing neighborhood boundaries improperly characterize and stigmatize select communities. The Riverwest 24, a 24-hour bike race, began 12 years ago with the intention to change the perception of the neighborhood and Riverwest has changed dramatically since the race’s inception. We’ve witnessed new businesses popping up in Riverwest and positive vibes from the transformation reverberating to surrounding neighborhoods.

When you stay at Cream City Hostel, you will become a part of the traveling hostel community. Come prepared to meet people different from yourself and mingle with residents in our backyard during events open to the public (you’re in as a guest for free of course)! We want you to feel at home when you visit Milwaukee so we’ve designed Cream City Hostel to be open and inviting to all. Our private rooms work well for families, couples, groups of friends or solo travelers who need a space of their own. Our dorm bedrooms are full of amenities like personal charging stations, privacy curtains, reading lights and lockers. We have a rec room where you can socialize and meet other travelers, a quiet space where you can work remotely or read a book in peace and a kitchen where you can cook for yourself.
